The Canon FTb QL was launched along with the Canon F1 as a professional-grade camera in March 1971 by Canon Inc. Its QL designation referred to the Quick Load for faster interchange lenses which feature canons infamous bayonet lens ring, which was first seen alongside the FT-QL.
